This activity will allow students the opportunity to determine how shapes are alike and introduce the mathematical vocabulary to describe the rule.
View slide show with students. As each shape is placed into the categories of "Fits my ruleâ€ or "Doesn't fit my ruleâ€, have students, either whole class, or with a partner, predict the rule that is being used to place the shapes. After the rule is discovered, connect the vocabulary word to the characteristics of the shapes in each category.
