I wrote two full lesson plans using the trade book The Boy Who Loved Words. The first one addresses determining the meaning of unfamiliar words and using specific strategies to gain meanings. This lesson spans the course of 2 days because it is a long book. You can even stretch it into three days. The second lesson plan addresses interpreting figurative language by distinguishing literal from non-literal phrases. Both lessons are written in the Teachers' College workshop format. All components are included: Aim, Rationale, Motivation, CCLS, Materials, Teaching, Active Engagement, Link, etc. I also included suggestions using puppets to motivate students, as well as materials to print out so you can make similar charts. Also, the first lesson includes most relevant words from the book to be printed on card stock in order to make a word tree, and a vocabulary list with definitions for students to keep in their folders. If you need formal lesson plans and don't feel like spending hours writing them then this is for you. You can of course modify them as you wish being in Word Fomat, and you can buy the book if you don't already have it on Amazon or at a book store.
