The mini-play advantage…
The mini-play works very well for students who have completed their work early and need a little challenge (not another worksheet!).
The skits are fun-filled reading material for students who don’t like reading much of anything else.
The skits can be as demanding or as undemanding as you please when it comes to sets, properties and costumes.
If the student chooses to memorize, the amount of lines is not overwhelming.
Each skit is two to three minutes in length when presented, so twenty skits can be performed in about an hour.
The skits can serve as exemplars for students with a playwriting bug.
Many of my skits contain two characters from classic children’s stories. This may lead to children pursuing those tales and learning to write “fractured” stories.
My wish is that you will have as much fun with these skits as I did writing them.
