Apples to Apples: A Comparison Essay Project
In this project students are given a list of other novel-length retellings of "Beauty and the Beast" and are asked to read one. Students then write an essay comparing Beauty to the new novel they have read using one of two prompts.

Now You Tell It: Writing Your Own Retelling of a Fairy Tale
In this project students choose a fairy tale, read the original version, and then write their own retelling of it. Students are asked to consider things like essential elements and audience when writing.
