No need to pull your hair out any more when you teach two-step equation word problems. This method is tried and true. This is a set of 8 word problems that ask students to complete a flow chart in order to solve the equation. Students must: Define the variable, list key words and their operation, write an equation and solve, and write a sentence answering the question. This flow chart helps students know where to start, which works great for lower-level learners and ESL students. There are 2 formats of these questions.
1. One per page: the answers can be glued to the back and used as a self-checking stations activity
2. Two per page: which can be used as a worksheet or as notes in an interactive notebook
I suggest that students be familiar with key words before using this set of word problems. If you need key word foldables, I have a couple in my store.
