Foldables, worksheets and exit tickets for solving two-step equations and two-step equations with the distributive property is what you will get with this resource. There are two notes foldables, two worksheets, and two exit tickets. One foldable is focused on two-step equations. The other foldable is about two-step equations with parentheses. The foldables are perfect for interactive notebooks, without having to take tons of times for cutting and gluing. Just two folds and your class is ready for note-taking!
Note: These notes require students to have knowledge of integers.
Each foldable folds into a “book”, with a cover and 6 mini-pages. One “page” is left blank for gluing into an interactive notebook.
The pages in the two-step equation foldable focus on the following topics: order to perform steps; practice equations in the form ax+b=c; practice solving two-step equations in the form x/a+b=c; practice solving two-step equations with fractional coefficients; practice solving two-step equations with the variable in different positions; and focus on role of subtraction/negatives in equations in the form b-ax=c.
The pages in the two-step equation with parentheses foldable focus on the following topics: shows how to rewrite expressions using the distributive property; focus on what order to perform steps; chance to practice solving equations with parentheses; shows that you can also solve equations with the distributive property by dividing both sides by the same number; focus on equations in the form -a(b-cx)=d, where sign errors are common; and focus on finding and fixing a mistake
Completed copies of both foldables have been provided.
There are also two practice worksheets and two exit tickets provided: one with two-step equations and one with two-step equations with parentheses. Answer keys not only show the correct answers, but also all of the work is shown.
