Get out those scissors and glue sticks because things are about to get real in your math classroom! Treat your kiddos to this activity and allow them to prove their mastery of solving two-step inequalities while having fun. They'll hardly notice that they are working! Students first solve ten two-step inequalities and then locate the sentence and number line which describe each solution set. Only positive whole numbers are used, and all problems have the variable on the left side. For added rigor, there are always two problems with the same numerical answer but different inequality symbols. Students not only have to get the correct answer; they also have to determine which number line has the correct inequality symbol.
An inequality symbols reference sheet is included!
Some students may benefit from using some problems as guided practice; otherwise, this activity is perfect for independent practice or even as a unique assessment!
A thorough answer key with ALL WORK SHOWN is included!
This eight-page resource includes:
1) Cover page
2) Inequality symbols reference page
3-4) Student work pages 1-2
5) Page to cut up...includes the sentences and number lines (NOTE: These are mixed up and the sentences do NOT match the number lines across from them. Students need to cut out each piece individually.)
6-7) Answer key
8) Credits page
