Advertisements are a constant presence in our daily lives. Whether you're driving down the road, watching TV, or playing with your phone, advertisements are sure to make an appearance. In this activity students will work in groups to identify examples of each type of advertisement from magazines or by using the Internet. Students glue magazine ads to a poster or use a digital board such as Padlet to post ads from the Internet. After the activity have students present their findings and discuss the ads as a class. This product also includes a 6-question formative assessment that uses the strategy of "cubing". For the assessment students roll a dice and based on the number they roll they must answer the question that corresponds. If you don't like this interactive formative assessment activity you could also have the students answer the questions individually on notebook paper.
