This lesson was designed to teach the different categories of conflict (internal and external) as well as the different types (human vs. human, human vs. nature, human vs. society and human vs. self).
This presentation covers internal and external conflict, and the different types - human vs. human, human vs. self, human vs. nature and human vs. society. There is a sorting activity, Smart Response Clicker technology is used in the guided practice section of the lesson and modeling is used throughout.
For the handouts that go with this lesson, please see my other item -- Types of Conflict Lesson Plan and Handouts.
What is included in the lesson plan and associated worksheets? [NOTE: This is NOT included in this file, just a description of what the lesson plan and worksheets file listed in my other items] The lesson plan and handouts include the full descriptive lesson, guided notes to go along with the presentation, differentiated group work and individual practice. For group work, it includes a conflict scavenger hunt, where students need to read passages and find one type of each conflict in a passage. They also need to look for evidence within their passage and record it on their worksheets. This part of the lesson is differentiated for a high group (7th and 8th grade texts) and low groups (5th and 6th grade level texts). For independent practice, a worksheet is included where students are given a story starter and need to come up with an example of conflict based on that scenario.
