Evidence and reasoning are the foundation for good expository writing, however many students struggle with identifying and using good evidence. In student writing, we often find that the evidence that students select doesn’t actually prove anything, it doesn’t support their claim, or is used weakly. The first step in remedying this issue is teaching students to identify what good evidence is.
This product includes:
- A brief lesson on the five main types of evidence found in expository writing. This is in Google Slides, Powerpoint, and PDF. Please note that the Google Slides is created in a way that students can type directly on it without affecting the images, which is perfect if you assign it via Google Classroom!
