This resource is designed to help middle school students understand and eventually use different types of evidence in their writing. It includes a handout with definitions and examples of: quotation, fact, statistic, anecdote, and example. This is perfect for giving notes or for students to keep in their English notebooks as a reference.
The second page is a quick matching activity, where students must identify the types of evidence. This is perfect as an assessment, warm-up, or homework assignment.
I used this before students wrote an informational essay (although it's great for argument too), and then required them to include at least one of each type of evidence in their essays. It was nice for them to have the handout to reference as they worked on their assignments.
