I created these posters for my social studies classes last year. Each poster features a different type of government and contains easy-to-understand definitions of each form. Posters also include images representing each of the following eight forms of government:
Engaging Activity Idea: I laminated mine, hung them around the room, and had students move to each of them in 3-minute increments (stations). They used post-its and made an "Advantages & Disadvantages" chart on the wall beneath each poster. I also asked students to see if they could determine what form of government the US used. Students guessed "Representative Democracy" and "Republic". Finally, I explained that they were all partially correct because the US is a "Democratic Republic", a mixture of the two.
