Use this video and guided notes to teach your students about the 5 main types of hooks: rhetorical questions, quotes, anecdotes, surprising fact or statistic, and sensory details.

It’s important that students know how to effectively grab the reader’s attention by beginning with a strong hook. Students can take notes using the guided notes pages while viewing the video to ensure they understand the different options. Examples are also provided.
