Are you teaching your students about forces and motion? Use this picture sort as a culminating activity after you discuss motion!
This file contains a 3-column chart and picture cards. The column is labeled: straight motion, back and forth motion, and circular motion. After you identify the pictures for your students, they will cut out the pictures and glue them in the appropriate columns.
The activity is easy to differentiate - just determine how many objects you want each child to sort! There are 4 objects per category, and not all 4 will fit in the space, so students can pick and choose which ones they feel most comfortable with.
My first and second graders did this activity independently and it gave me a lovely snapshot of how well they understood the content of the lesson!
