This graphic organizer puts the four main categories of nouns onto a single chart so all are visible at once. It shows students that there are many ways of sorting nouns, and gives hints and examples so they can better determine the categories on their own.

Use ideas:

Have printed copies for students. You say a noun out loud and students put their finger on each type as you go. Example. You say "boy," and students put their finger on "person," then "common," "singular," and "concrete."

Post this in a visible place in your room as a poster reminder.

Hand out copies as a reference in student binders.

Editable:

This is an editable Word document, so you can make any changes you'd like!
