A list of nouns and verbs. Cut them up and students can sort them and categorize them in many different ways. I gave them almost no direction and let them work their way through it - only told them to separate them into two piles and then name the piles. Once I saw that one group had sorted them into nouns and verbs, I had them share their answer and had the rest of the students do the same. Then, I had them separate each of those piles into their different types. I have used this as review, but also as an introduction to the types - even if students don't know the technical terms for the types, they can usually pick up on the similarities.
