This zip file contains a powerpoint, guided student notes page, template for the representative paper/lead cutout barriers, and two pictures of student work showing how the notes page looks when completed. Alpha, beta, and gamma radiation is discussed in these notes including the Greek letter, symbol, definition, and how each type of radiation changes an atom. At the top of the notes page (shown in the student work pictures) students draw each representative picture being stopped by three different materials (alpha-paper, beta- aluminium, and gamma- lead) I cut out strips of white paper for the paper barrier, strips of aluminum foil for the aluminum barrier, and strips of gray paper for the lead barrier. Students really liked that visual and it helped them remember each type of radiation.
