These resources are created for students who have already learned about the four types of sentences.
We’ve created fun rhymes to help remind students about the differences between the four types of sentences and the punctuation they use.
The posters are included in both color and black & white.
Four Types of Sentences Tiered Book
Students will complete five tiers in this book. This activity reinforces the differences between the four types of sentences, the punctuation, and requires students give an example of each sentence.
All Mixed Up Activity
Students draw or choose a silly picture card. Then the student will write four sentences – one of each type – about the picture on their recording sheet.
Super Sentence Sort
Students sort various sentences into the correct category - Declarative, Exclamatory, Imperative, and Interrogative.
Hiding In Descriptions
Students create a "Who am I?" display using only declarative sentences. There is a blank template or 20 different sheets with an animal included.
Students write various exclamatory sentences for different emotions and draw faces to match the emotion.
Super Simon Says
Play Simon Says with your students to review imperative sentences. Students will write the commands for Simon before the game.
Interview a Classmate
Students will write interrogative sentences to interview a classmate. Then allow students to interview each other.
