This is a sort I use when practicing types of sentences. You can either have them laminated and cut apart ahead of time or have the students do this while they are completing the activity.
Ideas for uses:
* Make it into a game. There are Kaboom cards included. This is a game for small group or whole class. Place all cards into a container. Each player blindly chooses a card to answer. Each answer is worth one point. If the player gets a Kaboom card the player must forfeit all points. They keep playing until all the cards are drawn. Student with the highest points is the winner.
*Have the students use the cards as a sort.
*Use in a literacy station where they record as many sentences in their journal under the correct heading as possible during the time limit.
*Have partners pull the cards and justify why they are placing each sentence into the appropriate category.
*Use as tutoring or informal assessment. Select a few to put on the overhead to use as a small formal assessment.
