What You’ll Receive
This skill kit uses video skits, photos, improv style drama, & the written word to help students learn to identify the different types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative and exclamatory.
• Bellringer – Students are welcomed to class with a whimsical video which asks the age old question: “Has anyone ever really kissed a frog?” Students follow along as the types of sentences are displayed.
• Video – The video presents two short skits in which children play out scenes in a park. In the first skit, the kids are fishing. In the second one, children are bickering over ice cream. Students are asked to identify the types of sentences used in the conversations.
• PowerPoint – Students are shown the four types of sentences along with the definitions.
• Worksheet – Students write various types of sentences based on the same situation.
Then, students use what they’ve learned to identify types of sentences. Next, it’s their turn to act in a skit. The teacher introduces a comical live skit idea that will challenge students to use their new knowledge and probably get a few laughs at the same time.
