This is a great lesson/ project unit for ELLs in High School
The teacher will introduce a story to the class. She will work with the class to use examples from the story to activate discussion about immigration experiences. Students will be given a rubric on how to write “a memory of home” for the children’s book. She will introduce key vocabulary and allow the students to use dictionaries and thesaurus to find definitions and synonyms. She will use iPads effectively to serve as a tool towards creating a comic book that tells of the struggles and success stories of the students.
