The ukulele is a much better instrument for children to learn before tackling the guitar. Classroom teachers can learn right along with their students. A child’s left hand fits easily around the neck of the ukulele. Chords can be played with one to three fingers and children can avoid the difficult bar chords and steel strings until later. Lesson 1 helps students to establish basic up/down classic strumming patterns which are the foundation for all of the ukulele lessons. Chords introduced in this lesson are: C, Am, F and A7. Included with each lesson are play-along mp3 audio and mp4 video tracks. For more information about the “Learn to Read Music” programs, visit thumbprintmusic.org or email@example.com.
