Product Description
a GREAT back-to-school activity!
U.S. Capitals • Map Skills • Geography

Where’s Walt? is a set of 28 Task Cards filled with clues to help your students in Grades 4-6 find the capital in which Walt is hiding. This is a FUN way to teach U.S. capitals as your students play detective and eliminate capitals using the clues until only one is left. The clues provide practice and reinforcement of state capitals, state facts, map and compass directions, and following basic directions.

The first Task Card has been done to use as an example of how to fill in the Student’s Answer Sheet and the Student’s Checklist. Go over it together as a class before having students start the activities.

The Task Cards are ideal for a game of Scoot (directions are included), as well as for partner work, individualized instruction, or as a whole class activity.

Also included are:

• a Student’s Answer Sheet for Where’s Walt?
(to record the names of the capitals being eliminated for each clue)
The number of capitals to be eliminated for each clue is noted in parentheses
for Task Cards with more than one capital for an answer.

• a Student’s Checklist (students place a check mark by each capital eliminated
for each Task Card)

• an Alphabetical List of State Abbreviations to use with
the United States Map for students’ reference

• an Alphabetical List of States and Capitals
for students’ reference

• an Answer Key

• a map of the United States

• directions for playing Scoot
