These American Colonies or 13 colonies Unit text investigation history warm-ups or bell-ringers are skill-based content rich mini-lessons! They were created to enforce skills that my colleagues and I felt students were just not getting. Each Warm-Up is Key Concepts for US History based (political development, social and cultural development, economic development and geographic expansion) and skill focused.
First, students review skills such as finding strong evidence to support claims, writing good commentary, citing evidence in various ways and paraphrasing. Then, students practice the skill by analyzing primary sources text, secondary source text, and maps with a multiple choice question per day. Answers and explanations are a click away!
