This is a unit exam that covers all three branches of government, the principles of the US constitution, and the path to the ratification of the Consitution. As well, the amendments and a few major Supreme Court cases are also covered. This unit exam encompasses a lot of information, therefore students are offered a choice in what sections they complete (3 of 5) and in some of the sections, what questions they complete. They are given a choice of five different sections and must complete three of them. The five sections may cover all or any of the topics above, and are broken up according to style of questioning. The first section is multiple choice, followed by short answer, then essay, then graphic organizers that must be filled out, ending with matching. The format is word so that you can change it up as you see fit for your class. I always gave the entire exam with the students choosing on their own which sections to complete. Most students would finish it in 1 hour with a few stragglers taking 90 minutes.
