Students will read, summarize and match expansionist themes in U.S. history to biographies of Alfred Thayer Mahan, Henry Cabot Lodge, Theodore Roosevelt and Sanford B. Dole. They will then analyze political cartoons and match them with the themes they most reflect. Finally, students will summarize foreign policies of presidents Roosevelt, Taft and Wilson and compare them to major expansionist themes.
