Product Description
Interactive Social Studies Notebooks are wonderful, and fun, ways to introduce your students to history!

I've been using notebooks in Social Studies for several years now, and I love it! My units involve a lot of reading, and even includes mini-books and reading passages! These mini-books have foldables and other activities that focus on reading skills, such as summarizing, looking for main idea and details, highlighting important information, taking notes, etc. My students have loved watching their notebooks grow throughout the school year and enjoy looking back at what they have learned.

This 76 page Government packet is my complete Government unit. It is a stand-alone unit, so it DOES NOT require a text book require a text book. The activities in this unit include the following items:

INTRO AND VOCABULARY
-KWL Chart
-Unit Title Pages
-Defining Vocabulary Mini-Book
-Vocabulary BINGO Board
-Vocabulary Matching Cards and Pockets
-Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle

This unit has many mini-books and activities to go with each one. These mini-books include:

Building a Strong Government
More Problems with the Articles of Confederation
The Constitutional Convention
Powers of the Constitution
The Three Branches of Government
Checks and Balances
Ratifying the Constitution
The Bill of Rights
How a Bill Becomes a Law

Extension Activities

Memorizing Presidents
This Needs to Be a Law!
Class President Election
Writing a Class Constitution

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Each mini-book is topic specific, and written for my fifth graders, however, I believe it can be used in grades 4th-6th. For each mini-book, there is a coordinating activity that can be added to a notebook. Reading the mini-book, then completing an activity helps cement the newly acquired knowledge into the minds of students!
