Product Description
This month long project allows the students to take a more in depth look at a specific group that fought for more rights during the Civil Rights Movement and, as a small group, will teach the information to the rest of the class for a day. This project will help students to develop their research, public speaking, and leadership skills.

The best time to do this project is right after discussing the beginning of the modern Civil Rights Movement and nonviolent resistance during the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the desegregation of public schools as a result of Brown v Board of Education
• The topics that have been organized are the following:
o Black Pride/Power
o Asian American & Pacific Islander Rights
o Chicano Latino Rights
o Women's Rights
o Gay Rights
o American Indian Movement
o Americans with Disabilities
o Muslim-American Rights
o Additional topics that can be added are:
 Recent Immigrants
 The Rural Poor
 The Elderly
 The Labor Movement
 Etc.

• Topic Overview- You will need to add textbook information and online for research sources based on the resources you have available at your school.
