If your students have access to i-Pads or other devices where they are capable of viewing videos, with their own headphones or other means of listening to their own audio feed, I would like to introduce you to the US History Online video series. I have created these videos, worksheets, and tests to help my students prepare for the End of Instruction US History test in my state and I am sharing them here as I feel they are valuable resources for any student or teacher facing a standardized US history exam. The videos for the Reconstruction Era, the first segment of the series, can be found at the following link, or by searching for Reading Through History on Youtube. The videos are available as part of an EOI Review playlist there.
To See the Videos on Our Website: Reconstruction Videos
From our site's homepage, the videos can be reached by clicking the 1865-Present option within the US History Online Menu bar.
It is also important to note that my school does NOT block Youtube on the school server, and I’m certain that this is not the case in every district, so it is important to test in advance before handing out the assignment to students in class. While Youtube may be blocked in your district, the videos still might play on the Reading Through History website. This would depend on each district’s individual filter settings.
These videos would also serve as a great, independent study in US history for any homeschooled child.
