This 60-minute lesson will not only provide you with a web quest but also discussion and extension lesson activities. The bulk of this lesson requires students to read information from a primary source found online as a means of building their background knowledge about the topic. Students will show their understanding by answering various open-ended questions related to the causes of the Civil War.
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to answer the following questions:
o What were the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and Kansas-Nebraska Act?
o Why did the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, and Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 increase
o What was the constitutional issue around of Dred Scott vs. Sandford?
o How did the Dred Scott case increase tensions between the North and the South?
This is the perfect grab and go lesson for educators. They can use to get caught up on a grading or even if they just need a substitute filler assignment.
