This set of 86 Personality Cards contains key information about individuals in American History (1865 - Present Day). Constant exposure to concepts and information enables our children to better retain material and knowledge. Displaying and utilizing these “cards” throughout your classroom all year will enable your children to become acquainted with those personalities and pertinent information. Simple classroom management strategies using the cards include: Dismiss by colors or by inventors or by presidents, century of importance, war heroes, villains, women, etc. Create groups by having students place themselves with personalities that have something in common with the personality they have on their desk. For example, “Today, I want all of the inventors to meet together.” or…”all of the leaders of World War II.” or “…foreign leaders. Have those related to the arts group together...musicians, poets, and novelists. Each card is numbered, and there are endless possibilities of grouping with the numbers. You can dismiss or group by colors, assign jobs by personalities, and more. Run the cards on white card stock and laminate before use. A correlating brochure to use as a Scavenger Hunt is also available for purchase on my site to use with the cards. This brochure may be edited easily according to need. My students are exposed to individuals they will learn throughout the year from day one. It's amazing how much they learn in advance! Planning for a substitute? The cards offer the perfect solution to a lesson plan when you must be out of your classroom. Run a scavenger hunt brochure and have students work independently trying to match descriptions to personalities by using the cards displayed on desks and around the room. My students love these activities! I’ve included 2 more blank cards to use as templates to create more cards. Everything may be edited to suit your teaching needs and your curriculum.
