60 minute middle school lesson plan for social studies- World History or US History, answering the following questions:

• What were the motivations for Europeans to start land claims in the Americas?
• Explain the competitive nature of these land claims in the Americas

This lesson provides teachers with a warm-up activity, classroom activity, extension activity, and project ideas. Students will break up into groups and complete a variety of tasks on handouts attached to this lesson. They will engage in a stick note activity that ties into European Land Claims. This is highly engaging and gets your students moving around in the classroom.
