This lesson is designed to last for an hour of class time or longer. Students will be provided with background information about the containment of the Cold War. They will show what they know by completing engaging classroom activities and answering various depths of knowledge of questions related to the lesson.
At the end of this lesson, students are expected to answer the following questions:
● Explain the policy of containment during the Cold War.
● What were some of the major Cold War events?
● Explain US foreign policy after WWII.
● Discuss the duck and cover drills and how students were impacted by government
The lesson features an highly engaging hook that will require the use of Dominos. Students will follow this up by viewing a video and completing various tasks found on the attached activity sheet. One of these tasks will require students to take the role of a historical figure and write diary entries.
