    Each STEM Challenge has detailed directions, photo examples, a list of materials needed, prediction section, brainstorming section, trials 1, 2, & 3, final results section with drawings, and a reflection section.

    The STEM Challenges include:

    Native Americans STEM Challenge | The Iroquois | Wampum

    The STEM Challenge: While using string and beads, students must create a coded message. Each bead represents a letter of the alphabet or a space in between words. STEM groups must decide what colors they will use for each letter in their message.. Other STEM groups will try to decipher their code (more instructions included in the resource)

    Cherokee Native Americans STEM Challenges

    Challenge #1 Design a Cherokee Winter Home

    Students design a model of a Cherokee Winter Home using a limited amount of supplies

    Students design a model of a Cherokee Summer Home using a limited amount of supplies

    Age of Discovery | Early Explorers STEM Challenge

    The STEM Challenge: Using a list of supplies, STEM groups (of 4) must design a sailing ship. The goal of this challenge is to create the fastest sailing ship. This will be measured by one member of the STEM group powering the ship by blowing through a straw. The STEM teams will line up their ships to compete. The fastest ship wins the challenge!     The Original 13 Colonies STEM Challenge

    The STEM Challenge: Using the supplies below, students must engineer a model of a plow. The plow must have functioning wheels where the contraption can be pulled around while the wheels spin.... (more instructions in the download)

    Welcome to 1820-1840, You have traveled back in time to the 1800’s, where there was rising tension between the colonists and Native American people.

    Age of Discovery | Early Explorers

    Welcome to the Age of Discovery! You have traveled back in time to the 15th and 17th centuries, during a time of exploration and discovery. Explorers traveled from their home countries to new corners of the world.

    The Original 13 Colonies

    Welcome to the 13 Colonies!

    You have traveled back in time to 1732, where Georgia, the last of the 13 colonies, has been established.

    Events Leading Up to the Revolutionary War

    Welcome to 1765-1775

    You travel back in time to the late 1700’s. Tensions are strong between the British and the colonists. The Proclamation of 1763 was a major source of conflict for the two groups.

    The Declaration of Independence and American Revolution

    Welcome to the American Revolution!

    You travel back in time to 1775, where the minutemen are alerted the British are on their way. A shot is fired, but you don’t know which side fired first. Eight colonists are killed in battle, and the British continue into Concord.

    The Constitution

    You travel back in time to 1787, when the Constitutional Convention was held. Delegates came together to address the issues with the Articles of Confederation. They discussed how the weak central government needed to be changed.

    Activities include: The Constitutional Convention Journal, Articles of Confederation Strengths and Weaknesses, Build Your Own Independence Hall, Hold Your Own Convention, Events Mapping, Creating Your Own Constitution
