I created a word wall that was also a growing timeline for my 8th grade U.S. History students. It was a great way to reference information and allowed students to spatially remember where events happened chronologically.
The document is printable and each term is half a page. When printed, cut the pages in half and laminate to make the word wall last for years. A few of the images are blank or just contain maps that need to be colored in with permanent marker or wet-erase markers. This was done to highlight specific focus points for my students to access and also allowed me (and students) to interact with the wall. As the wall grew, students could visualize the amount of information we had covered and had yet to learn. Each unit I focused on reviewing where we had been and did an activity predicting where we would go. All terms are from the 8th Grade U.S. History to 1877 TEKS (Texas).
