Product Description

This is a great way to get your students thinking on a deeper level about the issues surrounding slavery and the differences between the north and south in the decades prior to the Civil War. This Socratic Seminar/ Simulation allows groups of student to take on particular roles during the discussion. Some will be pro-slavery "border ruffians" others will be free soilers, and others will be John brown and his men. This 7 page document is detailed and has guiding expectations, process and questions. Also included are role sheets and important historical details to use as supporting evidence during the discussion. I recommend that students be somewhat familiar with John Brown prior to starting the seminar. Check out the preview for more details!
