This is part three of a four-part survey of American history. It is designed to help students pass the New York State Regents Exam for U.S. History and Government by helping students focus their studies on the topics and questions that most frequently appear on the exam.
Each study guide--there are 8 in each part--contains 3 main ideas, 5 key concepts, targeted Regents questions, a short answer question and a suggested essay topic. Simply put, based on past results from students, this works.
The survey will also be useful for all students who are looking to review and refresh their knowledge of American history. In particular, these guides are great resources for secondary students who have recently arrived to the country and need to "catch up" quickly while still adjusting to a new language and educational system.
Finally, although it is not specifically designed for the civics portion of the naturalization test, several students have reported that they were able to recall items that they had learned from the survey to help pass the test.
