Students put together sixteen puzzles of primary sources that correspond with a unit covered in US History to 1865.
2. Native Americans of North America
4. Colonization (includes Jamestown)
5. Stamp Act and the New Nation
6. New Nation (Declaration of Independence)
8. Civil War
9. Westward and Expansion
This lesson correlates with the "Welcome to US History First Day" Powerpoint. The activity is great for a first day lesson! I lay the puzzle envelopes out on the desks when the students first walk in. It is an excellent way to get your new students working on a hands-on project that answers the question: What are we going to learn about this year in history class?
Print in color ink on cardstock paper, laminate, draw puzzle lines on to, cut out, label the backs of each puzzle piece with a number, label a corresponding envelope with that same number, and put the puzzle pieces inside the envelope.
