This drawing "game" engages students in the concept of "imperialism" by having them create an imaginary country and then having that country "take over" various other imaginary countries for various justifications. Each step in the simulation draws parallels to United States imperialism in Hawaii, Cuba, the Philippines, etc. This activity is a great anticipatory or reinforcer activity to accompany any discussion or reading on imperialism.
At the end of the drawing simulation, students are asked to then explain the concept of imperialism based on what they just drew. A simple yet effective way to teach the concept of imperialism.
