Get students engaged and learning about the U.S. presidents through a scavenger hunt activity. This is a rigorous activity that my students have really enjoyed. It is also a great introduction to U.S. history.
Attached are 16 different readings about 16 U.S. presidents including John Adams, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Barack Obama, and many more. The readings vary in text complexity and some have vocabulary definitions to help with differentiation. Additionally in the student scavenger hunt worksheet I provided an exemplar student response to help students understand the expectations of the written work.
Students will read about 16 different US presidents and find information about them to complete their scavenger hunt worksheet. The questions are seeking information about the president's legacy, accomplishments, what was happening in the United States during their presidency, and how they became president.
Included are 3 suggestions on how to implement the activity into the classroom.
This activity includes the 16 presidential readings, the student scavenger hunt worksheet, and an answer key of the scavenger hunt worksheet. Let me know if you have any questions.
