This digital resource can be used by students doing independent work and when teaching students remotely. It includes 3 vocabulary, reading, and writing activities adapted from the U.S. Elections: Vocabulary, Reading, Writing, and Speaking Activities resource plus a research activity created specially for this Google Drive™ product. All the activities are about American elections and how a U.S. president is elected. The vocabulary, reading, and writing tasks revolve around 24 vocabulary words that will help your students understand how the election process works. Each of these activities also includes Challenge tasks to extend your students’ learning. A research activity is also included that does not revolve around the 24 target vocabulary words.

You can use this resource remotely in this way:
Students can do the activities in this resource on their own. Give students the link to access the Google Drive materials and tell them which activities to do (if you don't want them to do all 4 activities). Tell students to read and follow the instructions for each activity. Tell students to use the rubric as a guide when they are writing or, if you prefer, you can use the rubric to correct your students' work yourself.
English Language Learners and other students who are unfamiliar with American elections or how the president is elected will find these activities informative and useful. For native English-speaking students and ELLs who already have a general idea of the election process, you can use the activities in this resource to help your students develop their reading, writing, and research skills.
