This is a 19 slide, highly animated, power point presentations on US Presidents - #7 - Andrew Jackson - Summary. Each of the presentation slides are editable so you can change it to fit your individual needs.

Born in poverty, Andrew Jackson was born into a farming family of relatively modest means, somewhere near the then-unmarked border between NC and SC. During the American Revolutionary War Jackson, whose family supported the revolutionary cause served as a courier and was captured at age 13. He was mistreated by his British captors and he never forgot that treatment. He was hot-tempered and killed a man in a duel in 1806, over a matter of honor regarding his wife Rachel.

Jackson gained national fame through his role in the War of 1812, where he won decisive victories over the Indians and then over the main British invasion army at the Battle of New Orleans. His leadership in that conflict earned Jackson national fame as a military hero, and he would become America’s most influential, and polarizing, political figure during the 1820s and 1830s.

As a lawyer he helped found the state of TN in 1796 where he represented the state as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and then in the U.S. Senate. After narrowly losing to John Quincy Adams in the contentious 1824 presidential election, Jackson returned 4 years later to win redemption, soundly defeating Adams and becoming the nation’s 7th President (1829-1837).
