One of the many unique aspects of 5th Grade in the United States is the studying of the 50 states and capitals. For some students, this heavy focus on memorization can be a new challenge. To help all my students, I incorporate the states and capitals into multiple aspects of our classroom. In this way, my students can learn the capitals organically rather than just memorizing flashcards.
These labels work great as decoration around the room or as group desk labels. Every month my table groups get a new state and capital and every day we refer to the groups by their capital names! The old states go up on the wall for review. My students learn the capitals VERY quickly this way and they love "belonging" to certain states.
All 50 states are included with:
• state name
• postal abbreviation
Offered in both COLOR and B&W in case you would like to save ink.
Please leave a review and let me know how you use these in your classroom!
