This map is a great introduction to both political and physical features of the United States of America and Canada. The directions intend to help students understand where these features are located while at the same time encouraging detail oriented behaviors. I normally assign this map as a task after the previous unit's summative assessment with a due date for the following class period. This helps keep students on task while classmates finish, and allows students to work at their own pace.
Directions on the political map include defining the border between both countries, identifying all 50 states, 10 provinces, and 3 territories. The physical map includes a list of physical features for students to search and label.
