Use matching and sorting file folders for common tools in one-on-one instruction and independent station or center work. In order for our students to become productive citizens, they must understand how to access their environment and how to use everyday items to complete a task. I created this set to help identify tools found in the home and work place. Students are presented with tools, jobs, locations, actions, and materials helping to increase their understanding of useful objects and how the items might relate to themselves. Each file folder activity has three different levels which will allow you to choose the most appropriate teaching method for the diverse students you work with. This packet contains 7 different leveled sorting and matching activities including
☞ Activity 1: Matching Household Activities and Tools (11 pages)
☞ Activity 2: Matching Machines and Their Actions (11 pages)
☞ Activity 3: Matching Tools and Jobs (11 pages)
☞ Activity 4: Matching Tools and Location (11 pages)
☞ Activity 5: Matching Tools and Materials (11 pages)
☞ Activity 6: Sorting Food and Tools (5 pages)
☞ Activity 7: Sorting Finger Foods and Using Utensils (5 pages)
All file folders come with a cover, inside work pages, a back pocket for storing moveable pieces, tab labels, and a general teaching description. I recommend that all are printed in color as they are most likely to hold your students’ attention but, if you wish, set your printer to black & white/grayscale.
Use these for those with disabilities including autism, Asperger’s, emotional disability, attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Also useful for preschool children and T.E.A.C.C.H. activities for children with special needs. Great for special education teachers, general classroom teachers, speech and language pathologists, social workers, guidance counselors, instructional assistants, therapists, and parents.
