Uh Oh... Social Pragmatic Problem Solving Scenarios for the Holidays!
Hello! I created this lesson for my students who experience difficulty verbalizing with correct and appropriate language in social situations. ***** Especially with students who need to develop their pragmatic language skills! I find that my students need practice with specific scenarios and learn necessary things to say and how to say them.
Some of the 42 scenarios include:
? Determining how to solve social problems (first 15 scenarios)
? Second 27 cards are about a holiday party where the student has to:
• Determine essential pieces of information.
• Deciding on chores.
• Interpreting figurative language and sarcasm.
• Initiating a conversation.
• Expressing an opinion.
• Using polite forms.
• Handling holiday situations.
• Handling awkward social situations.
• Making introductions.
• Changing the subject.
• Dealing with emergency situations.
The scenarios are designed for PRACTICE with the skills!
***** Suggestion – I am all about review and conserving paper! Take these pictures and scenarios and put them in a dollar store photo album and have students read and practice the skills. Or put on index cards with the pictures and the scenarios and have the students role play! The pictures in color are for the other side of the card! I know how it is to print out pages and that is why I included a black and white set of questions! Make sure if you want to print out the scenarios that way that you check out the page numbers!
Have fun! I love the holidays and I am thrilled when my students have success with such skills, as I know this will help them with feeling comfortable interacting during the holiday season!
