My most popular product has been my argumentative essay outline, and I have wondered if I should mess with a good thing. Well, after using these organizers this year, with great success, I have decided to include this step-by-step collection of outlines.
This packet is different from my original outline. While I really liked using my original outline, I was able to make improvements based on how it worked in my real life classroom, and the final result is this collection.
This download includes separate graphic organizers for all stages of an argumentative essay: research, introduction paragraph, body paragraphs, and conclusion paragraph. There are examples for the introduction and conclusion organizers, and explanatory notes for the body paragraph organizers as well.
I used these organizers for all of my students, but I received really enthusiastic feedback from parents during IEP meetings. Furthermore, when a science teacher wanted to do an argumentative essay with our kids, I was able to share these with her and she found they were very useful for her as well. I believe these organizers can help students across varying ability levels and subject matter.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a Word file (.doc). I will be converting it to .rtf shortly, but please only purchase if you have the software needed to open it.
Please, also, know that I used these as Google Docs. You can easily copy and paste them into a Google Doc and have the kids fill them out there if they do not have access to Microsoft Word. If you want to use these as printables, you might have to edit slightly to include more blank space to better fit writing.
