Sick of boring spelling lists? Want a way to differentiate spelling across your class while the kids engage in the same content? Want your students to take more ownership of their spelling?
So do I. That's why I created this new resource which allows teacher to share the power to choose spelling words, or let the students completely have control over the spelling list.
How? By starting with a passage sourced from fantastic literature. The class engages with the passage, you choose how much you want to add to it. Need to speak about adjectives? Want the students to extend their creative writing? These passages will be the jumping point into all these topics and more - you choose.
Then the students choose their own spelling words list. What? Their own list? YES! Words from the passage and words from their own writing.
Whats the incentive for kids to challenge themselves? Students will get tested at the end of the week on their ability to write the passage from dictation. Plus they will get tested on their own list. You will, of course, have the final say over their list. Give them the power, hand it over slowly or just let them go for it - you choose. I'll be handing the power over slowly as they get used to the new system.
This is a trial for me. That's why this resource is FREE. I want to test it myself before I ask people to pay for it.
