Welcome to the Umbrella and Raindrops Catalog Assessment. How do you know if students can use the library catalog appropriately? Here's a quick easy assessment to use in your library. For a bonus - this book report-type template has great umbrella and raindrop graphics that fit easily into April or any spring month!
The umbrellas can hop subjects, titles, or authors written on them. The ask students to use the library catalog and find a great book that fits in the topic. Students are asked to write down the title of the book. Then connect the raindrops to umbrella graphics.
I have used this activity with students from 3rd grade to 5th grade. It's perfect for use in a library during April or any spring month as a filler lesson or quick assessment. It looks great hanging with yarn letting the raindrops float and twist. These assessments are also perfect for a cute bulletin board! The activities includes the raindrops, an author umbrella, a subject umbrella, and a keyword umbrella.
