Una carta a Dios written by Gregorio López is a short story appropriate for lower levels of Spanish. The top of the packet contains helpful vocabulary. I have divided the story into "chunks". After each chunk there are several reading comprehension questions. Chunking technique facilitates reading comprehension for lower Spanish levels. After reading the story, there are also four discussion questions to encourage speaking in the target language. The last question requires students to use the internet which incorporates the use of technology. The culminating activity is the completion of a story board. I use the story board as an informal assessment to check for comprehension. Link for story board is provided as well as a key.
